Rishi Balmiki desired to write an epic — a Maha Kabya — a grand literary composition describing the heroic deeds of an ideal human being so he implored Rishi Narad to tell him if he knew of any such national hero. Rishi Narad entreated Rishi Balmiki to write about the life and achievements of Shree Rama who had all the virtues of an ideal person; righteous, truthful, respectful, humble, humane, inspiring and handsome. In his Ramayan, Rishi Balmiki has portrayed Shree Rama as a human being who attained Godhood by virtue of his own physical, moral and spiritual achievements: He has faithfully narrated all the events of Shree Rama's life. In every episode, Lord Rama never lost his cool and balance despite the onslaught of tragic situations including a ferocious war with the demon king Ravan which was fought by Rama without a well trained and properly gear-equipped army.
